Former Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has been flooded with support after sharing that one of his three dogs has died. The 46-year-old actor took to social media to announce the sad news, posting a photo of himself with his three Dachsunds.
He wrote: "Absolutely gutted that I’ll never get to snuggle up with my complete trio like this again. But so grateful of the time I had with them all together. Hug your pups tight while you’ve got them. X"
Heartbreaking Loss
In a separate post, he shared: "My beautiful loving, kind, desperately loyal pup Jean left us today. I’m heartbroken. A huge thanks to the wonderful staff @animaltrustvets for doing everything they could to save her."
Fans and fellow actors offered their condolences in the comments. Soap star Angela Lonsdale said: "All my love darling, you gave her the best life and i hope that you can find some comfort in the pain knowing how much love you gave her x x." Karen posted: "So sorry for the loss of your fur baby - it’s heartbreaking." John commented: "It's heartbreaking I know."
Career After Corrie
Brocklebank, who played vicar Billy Mayhew on the cobbles, exited the role earlier this year. He followed his Corrie departure with a stint at the Liverpool Playhouse in the stage adaptation of Young Frankenstein.
Speaking exclusively to the ECHO about his time on the soap, he said: "I've got 11 years worth of memories as well. Eleven years is a long time to be working in one place. I've been an actor now for 32 years, and 11 of them were spent there. It does become like a big family."
He added: "I've had so many great storylines over the years. Billy certainly wasn't short of drama including fun things to do, some tragic things to do and some silly things to do. I mean, he should never have touched that heroin", he laughed. He concluded: "But I've loved my time at Corrie, and I will always look back on it with nothing but absolute love in my heart."
