Everton secured a 3-1 friendly win over Premier League rivals Newcastle United at Murrayfield, with Thierno Barry, Iliman Ndiaye and Tyrique George all on target before darkness fell over the stadium.
Goals and key moments
Barry opened the scoring on 27 minutes with a well-taken goal after sprinting from the halfway line. Ndiaye doubled the lead from the penalty spot on 36 minutes, and George added a spectacular third with a turn and shot on 73 minutes. Harvey Barnes pulled one back for Newcastle five minutes before the end.

Mark Travers 8 – Made two important saves when the game was goalless and another early in the second half to keep out Jacob Murphy.
Nathan Patterson 7 – Enjoyed a rare outing on home soil and put in a great cross that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall nearly converted.
Vitalii Mykolenko 6 – Still looks a bit rusty after being caught out of position on Saturday, but regained composure after the break with a well-timed slide challenge on Murphy.
Michael Keane 7 – Produced a solid display alongside James Tarkowski after an early headed clearance was volleyed over.
James Tarkowski 7 – Made a big tackle on William Osula in the lead-up to Everton’s opener and led by example.
Hayden Hackney 7 – Was bailed out by Tarkowski but always looked to get on the ball and seemed unfortunate with a couple of rejected penalty shouts.
Harrison Armstrong 9 – Two big assists, showing speed of thought to pick out Barry and then laying the ball off to George for the third goal.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 7 – Denied by Lukas Hornicek but won the penalty after being brought down by Joelinton.
Iliman Ndiaye 8 – Coolly converted the penalty to find the net for the first time since his return.
Tyrique George 9 – A threat throughout, capped a hugely encouraging performance with a clever turn and shot.
Thierno Barry 9 – Excellent centre-forward display, took his goal superbly and was a constant threat.
