Jack Downham, who portrayed Noah Dingle on Emmerdale for 17 years, has confirmed his departure from the ITV soap. The actor, 24, took to Instagram to announce the news, prompting an outpouring of support from his co-stars.
In his post, Jack wrote: "Noah Dingle over and out. What a b****y beautiful place to have worked for 17 years!" He added in another post: "So grateful for the past 17 years and thank you all for your support for me and Noah! ! !"
On-screen exit
This week's episodes saw Noah leave the village for a new job opportunity in Dusseldorf, Germany, in what appeared to be a sudden and unexpected exit. In the storyline, Noah only told his mother Charity Dingle at the last minute, leaving her both stunned and heartbroken.
Viewers were left puzzled by the scenes, questioning whether this marked a permanent departure for the character.

Jack's Emmerdale colleagues were quick to comment on his post, offering emotional goodbyes. Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie Boyd, wrote: "You're just a dream boy! Smash it! Fly fly fly!"
Robb was recently announced for Strictly Come Dancing 2026. He said of joining the BBC One series: "I don't know who’s more excited about this, me or my Mother. I can't quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time! It's a dream come true, and I can't wait to bring my all to ballroom.
