Dr Ranj Singh's Ex-Wife Reveals Pain of Discovering He Was Gay
Dr Ranj Singh's Ex-Wife Speaks on His Sexuality

Sulvinder Samra, the former wife of television doctor Ranj Singh, has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of discovering her husband was gay, admitting she felt unattractive and questioned her self-worth after their marriage ended.

Marriage and Separation

Samra, a nervous system coach, married Ranj in 2005. The relationship ended in 2011, two years after he came out to her as gay. In a recent appearance on the Suddenly Single podcast, she reflected on the breakup and its impact on her confidence.

“I did feel really unattractive. I questioned a lot. You go down this little rabbit hole as a woman, like, ‘Well, why did he fall in love with me? What was it about me that he said he fell in love with?’” she said. She added that some people made unkind comments about her ex-husband being gay, making the situation even harder.

Cutting All Contact

Samra revealed she has no knowledge of Ranj’s current relationship with actor James Colebrook, which he confirmed in 2024. “I don’t know who James is, I don’t know anything about Ranj’s life. That’s the truth,” she stated. She explained that she chose to block him on social media and avoid any updates about him, as it did not benefit her wellbeing.

Learning the Truth

Samra said she first learned of Ranj’s sexuality through mutual friends, not from him directly. She recalled reading his first public interview on the subject in 2015 with Attitude magazine. In May 2026, Ranj told The Big Issue that he struggled to accept being gay and feared his life would fall apart, but found support from his brothers. Samra, however, claimed there was “no discussion” about his sexuality before they separated, though she sensed an emotional distance in their final year of marriage.
