EastEnders star Diane Parish has described what it was like to meet Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason when cameras aren't rolling. Posting to Instagram, she shared a photo of them together and revealed he is one of her heroes.
'True National Treasure'
Diane beamed into the camera alongside the 86-year-old actor as she wrote: "BOX TICKED [hands up emoji]. They say never meet your heroes… but in this case… I was not disappointed to acquaint the darling Sir David Jason. True National Treasure."
The BBC star went on to explain that her 'D' necklace was inspired by Del Boy's iconic one. She said she always thought that if she ever met Sir David, she would tell him about it. When she got the opportunity while shooting the new BBC Licence promo, she did.
A Memorable Encounter
She recounted: "And he did that famous look and said 'Oh did you now?' Then I told him 'But my one's bigger than yours and I got bling' "'All right!' He said with that twinkle. True gent and had a nice chat about comedy timing and OFAH, gems I will never forget. And if you squint your eyes really really tight, you might just catch me in that promo in the pub."
Fans were delighted, with one commenting: "Two absolute TV legends." Another said: "Let me count the ways I love this... Two of my fave shows and characters." A third added: "Two legends together!!! Beautiful pics Diane."
Fans Pay for a Moment
The meeting comes as Only Fools and Horses fans are paying £450 for a "moment" to meet the actor himself. Sir David, who portrayed Del Boy in the beloved BBC sitcom, is the star attraction at the classic sitcom's annual convention this November. Fans attending the event have a chance to get their picture taken with him in a replica of the Trotters' flat.
A ticket to the convention in Milton Keynes, Bucks, starts at £100 per day, but to get a moment with the TV legend, fans need to pay £250 more, with the most expensive package - including a front row seat at the on-stage talk - costing £450 per person.
