George Burnett, 82, has retired after more than 15 years as the school crossing patrol officer for Carnbroe and Riverbank primary schools in Coatbridge. A special ceremony was held to give staff, parents and pupils at both schools the chance to show their appreciation.
Gifts and tributes
Among the gifts he received was a signed Airdrieonians FC strip, kindly donated by the club, and hospitality at a game of his choice. He was presented with his gifts by pupils Callen Bradley (P7) and Clara Carey (P6).
Head teacher's praise
Helen Paterson, head teacher at Riverbank Primary School and Nursery Class, said: "George has completied over 15 years service as the school crossing patrol officer for Carnbroe and Riverbank. He attended our summer service with his wife, daughter and granddaughter and enjoyed a celebration of his wonderful help."
She added: "George was gifted a signed Airdrie football strip, kindly donated by the club, and hospitality at a game of his choice."
Paterson concluded: "We all wish George the very best for his retirement."
