Coronation Street finally unveiled Theo Silverton's killer earlier this week, and Maria Connor star Samia Longchambon has admitted she is 'still in shock' over the revelation. After weeks of speculation, the culprit was revealed to be Sarah Platt, played by Tina O'Brien, during a flashback sequence in Monday night's episode (June 22). The flashback showed Sarah and Theo having a confrontation on top of scaffolding, where she struck him with a metal bar after he threatened her. The blow knocked him off balance, causing him to fall to his death.
Panic and a Secret Pact
In a panic following Theo's death, Sarah called Gary Windass (Mikey North) for help. The pair spent the subsequent weeks keeping their secret, but their suspicious behaviour led Maria to suspect they were having an affair. Monday's dinner party episode saw Maria publicly accuse Sarah and Gary of infidelity in tense scenes, adding another layer of drama to the unfolding story.
Samia Longchambon Reacts to the Twist
Speaking to Digital Spy, Samia Longchambon expressed her astonishment at the plot development. 'I am still in shock. I watched it with my family because I'd not seen it. Obviously I was there, so I kind of knew what was happening, but it was nice to see it all edited and put together,' she said. The actress also noted the element of surprise for viewers: 'It was so hard because everyone over the last couple of months has been having their own guesses who the killer is and not that many people were expecting it to be Sarah so it was quite nice it gave people a shock.'
More Twists and Turns Ahead
Longchambon teased that the drama is far from over, hinting at 'more twists and turns' in store. 'I think you are going to see quite a bumpy ride for Gary and Maria,' she added. Already, Gary has decided against confessing the truth to Maria about what he and Sarah have been hiding, leaving their marriage in a precarious position. Meanwhile, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) remains convinced that Gary was Theo's killer and is determined to find proof by any means necessary.
The revelations have set the stage for a turbulent period for the characters, with lives likely to be turned upside down as the secrets threaten to unravel.
