Kit Green is set to face a major health scare in Coronation Street after learning that breast cancer runs in his family. The news comes as a double blow for the Winter clan, following the death of Bernie Winter's long-lost aunt Celeste.
Celeste, Bernie's mother's identical twin, arrived on the Cobbles dying of breast cancer. However, Bernie refused to reconnect due to decades-old family drama that had impacted her mother, and advised her daughter Gemma Winter-Brown to stay away too.
Gemma defies her mother
Gemma, never one to follow instructions, defied her mum's orders and went to visit Celeste. That decision is about to have life-changing consequences for her brother Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts.
Kit already has plenty of drama on his plate. He previously tried and failed to help his girlfriend Sarah Platt get away with murdering Theo Silverton by tampering with evidence, only to discover that her partner in crime was her ex-boyfriend Gary Windass. After Sarah was arrested and sent down, their relationship broke down.
Kit's mounting problems
More recently, Kit considered putting his job as a police officer in jeopardy when Sarah's 'prison buddy' Kacey wanted him to use his position to get her son off an armed robbery charge. To make matters worse, Jodie Ramsey is starting to make eyes at him.
In a spoiler video, Gemma gets Kit alone in Roy's Rolls to break the news that their estranged aunt has died of breast cancer. Gemma reveals that she learned from her visit that breast cancer runs in their family, and fears that she or the girls might get it.
Health scare ahead
Kit simply tells Gemma he has to go and heads out of the cafe, leaving his sister deeply worried. It never occurred to him that the news might affect him too. But that's where the story is going, as Coronation Street announced in a press release that Kit will suffer a major health scare.
Jacob Roberts spoke about the importance of telling this story with a male character and spreading awareness that men can get breast cancer too. 'I genuinely didn't know that men could get breast cancer,' Jacob admitted. 'And I felt to make it authentic that Kit shouldn't know men can get breast cancer.'
