Coronation Street has released a dramatic first look at Sarah Platt's long-awaited court case. Played by Tina O'Brien, Sarah was arrested in July on suspicion of murdering Theo Silverton and has been in prison over the last few months, with regular visits from her friends and family.
Self-defence plea
In flashback scenes to the night of his death on April 23, viewers saw Sarah kill Theo with a scaffolding pole after confronting him about his violent abuse of her friend Todd Grimshaw. Now, after months behind bars on remand, Sarah will get the chance to fight for her freedom as she tries to convince the jury that she acted in self-defence.
The new promo shows a terrified Sarah in the dock whilst a voiceover is heard calling her a "cold blooded murderer" and a frightened Sarah says "I think we need to prepare for the worst".
Star's reaction
Speaking of the storyline, actress Tina O'Brien said: "Sarah is absolutely terrified, she has been desperate for this day to come but the reality of being brought up from the cells and standing in the dock is overwhelming. As the prosecution case is laid out she is not sure things will go her way."
Will Sarah walk free from court or will the jury find her guilty of murder?
Weatherfield shocks
Sarah remains oblivious to what is going on in Weatherfield while she has been behind bars for the last few months. Her ex Kit Green has slept with her daughter Bethany in a huge shock last month. If that wasn't enough upset in the family, Kit has also been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in the process of informing his family members.
The dramatic episodes will air from Wednesday October 14 on ITV, ITVX, STV and YouTube.
