Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) confronts Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) in Coronation Street tonight after discovering she stole a photograph of Rachel from the funeral parlour. Christina had been attempting to get closer to her granddaughter Lucy (Anya Dewin), but her actions have put Sally on high alert.
Lucy, the daughter of Tim Metcalfe's (Joe Duttine) cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex), moved in with Tim and Sally after the murder of her mum Rachel. Viewers have learned that Christina is Rachel's biological mother, having given birth to a baby girl after an affair with her boss. She spent three months caring for little Rachel before handing her over to her boss and his wife, who could not have children of their own.
Sally and Lucy visit the funeral parlour
In tonight's episode, Sally and Lucy arrive at the funeral parlour to speak with Christina about a plaque for Rachel's grave. They bring photo albums, giving Christina her first glimpse of the life Rachel lived. Christina is mesmerised by the images and asks Lucy about Rachel's time at university.
When Sally and Lucy return home, Lucy realises one of the pictures of her mum is missing from the album. Sally heads back to the funeral parlour and is troubled to discover that Christina has stolen it.
Christina's confession and Sally's warning
Christina shares with Sally that she is Lucy's grandma and suggests building a friendship with Lucy, promising to keep her identity a secret. Sally outright refuses, telling Christina that Lucy is incredibly vulnerable and they must do what is best for her, devastating Christina.
On Monday, October 5, Christina watches Lucy head towards Number 4. George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) tells her to leave it, but Christina ignores him and heads over to speak with her. Later, Sally discovers Lucy is skiving and enjoying a drink in the café with Christina. Lucy is sent home, and once she is gone, Sally tells Christina that she will speak to social services and take their advice, but Christina must stay away until she is told otherwise.
Also, Jodie Ramsey's (Olivia Frances-Brown) meddling sees her call Doug's (Steve Evets) doctor to accuse him of being a danger to the family. The mental health team arrive, and Doug is led away. Later, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) catches Jodie red handed, but Jodie has her own plan to keep Bethany quiet.
