Clarkson's hilarious 'dogger' encounter in Cotswolds woods

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the hilarious moment he encountered a suspected 'dogger' lurking in the woods near his farm. The ex-Top Gear presenter shared the young man's word-for-word response when he got caught, recounting the incident in his column for The Times.

Pub's unique past

The Farmer's Dog pub, owned by Clarkson, has a unique past, with the 66-year-old previously disclosing that it was built on a former dogging hotspot, the Mirror Online reports. The ex-Top Gear presenter reportedly splashed out "less than £1 million" on The Windmill, a venue nestled within five acres of countryside close to Burford in Oxfordshire. Rebranded and reopened in 2004 as The Farmer's Dog, the pub has since attracted visitors from across the country, eager to sample traditional pub classics crafted from fresh, British produce, alongside the popular Hawkstone beer.

However, it emerged that the pub had always enjoyed a certain notoriety, albeit for rather different reasons, with Clarkson confirming it stands on a former dogging hotspot. Back in July 2024, Jeremy took to Instagram to share a shocking revelation with his 8.3 million followers via a short clip. In the video he says: "Tell me you bought a pub on a dogging site without telling me you bought a pub on a dogging site."

Instagram revelation

The footage shows a visibly repulsed Clarkson holding up a pair of women's underwear on the end of a twig. Within just over three hours, the video had racked up more than 110,000 likes and upwards of 1,000 comments. His supporters found the situation amusing, with one remarking: "Rename the pub The Dog Inn", while another quipped: "Bet that was left there as a cruel joke by James May", and a third joked: "This is terrible! Please tell me the exact location, time and dates, so I know to avoid missing it."

Jeremy has now revealed further incidents, this time occurring close to his farm. In his column for The Times, Jeremy didn't give specific dates but recounted how he initially mistook them for fly-tippers engaged in illegal activity. Writing for The Times, he said: "We like to think this is mostly the preserve of suburban housewives in home country pampas places like Beaconsfield but in the not too distant past, the car park at my remote Cotswolds pub was a hot spot as well. It's even happened, on a smaller scale, on my farm."

The teenager's response

He described returning one evening from his local when he noticed a "suspicious-looking" vehicle parked near the woodland. He approached the passenger window discreetly to investigate, only to discover a young man, approximately 17 years old, who was smoking a "doobie" with one hand while "frantically" performing a sex act with the other. Upon realising he'd been spotted, the teenager lowered the window and the penny dropped: "Oh my God, you're Jeremy Clarkson." He then remarked: "I rather wish we had met in different circumstances." Jeremy considered this the finest line he'd ever encountered.
