Chanel's new Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu perfume, the first new scent in the line in six years, launches on 19 August. Crafted in-house with perfumer Olivier Polge, the fragrance features amber intensity balanced by grapefruit and lychee.
Campaign and Testing
The campaign is fronted by Grammy-nominated artist Gracie Abrams. The Coco Mademoiselle line was launched in 2001 by Jacques Polge, Olivier's father, reflecting the youthful spirit of a younger Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel.
The reviewer wore the new Crush Absolu parfum daily for two weeks ahead of its global launch. Testing considered the bottle's luxury feel, fragrance notes, staying power, and value for money, as well as whether it felt unique and earned compliments.
Scent Profile and Longevity
The scent is described as beautifully balanced, with a citrus aroma reminiscent of the original Coco Mademoiselle. It offers seasonal versatility with a soft lychee, rose, and grapefruit finish for summer allure. Light yet subtly musky, it isn't overly sweet. Rich amber vanilla base notes add warmth suitable for winter.
Longevity is impressive, with the scent developing on the skin rather than fading quickly. Five hours after spritzing, the sweet amber-patchouli profile remains detectable on wrists and neck.
Verdict and Availability
The perfume is considered a more playful take on the classic Coco Mademoiselle while retaining Chanel's luxury. With Gracie Abrams as campaign star, it is expected to become a Christmas gifting favourite. The new perfume launches on Wednesday 19 August.
