Celine Dion made her return to the stage on Saturday, 12 September 2026, kicking off a sold-out Paris residency at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre. The concert marked her first full show in six years since her Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS) diagnosis.
Emotional comeback in front of 30,000 fans
The 58-year-old singer, who has been battling the rare neurological condition since 2022, appeared in a black gown and diamond necklace. She opened with 'On ne change pas', accompanied by her pianist and four violinists, and became emotional during the second verse as her voice cracked amid a standing ovation.
Several of her most challenging songs, including "Because You Loved Me", "The Power of Love", and "My Heart Will Go On", were transposed to slightly lower keys to protect her vocal cords under the limitations of SPS.
Fans defend the star against critics
As clips from the show spread on TikTok, some viewers claimed Dion 'doesn't sound the same'. Supporters quickly defended her performance.
One supporter posted: "People here be like why she don't sound the same anymore. Like bruh in her age she's a legend already and she doesn't need to prove anything she already PROVED A LOT IN HER ERA."

Paris celebrates the singer's return
Fans gathered outside her Paris hotel, Le Royal Monceau, from 6am on the day of the concert. Paris City Hall hosted a public karaoke event, while theatres, nightclubs, and tribute cruises along the Seine River held sing-alongs and fancy dress competitions.
Dion told the audience: "I made a promise to be back on stage. Singing for you. Singing for me. Singing for life."
Residency details and ticket availability
The opening night was the first of a 26-date residency running through May 2027. The concert lasted over two hours and twenty minutes, featuring hits including 'All By Myself', 'I'm Alive', and 'My Heart Will Go On'.
Nine million fans registered for early-access tickets when the residency was announced. All standard box office allocations are sold out, but tickets can be secured through the Plenitude Arena Official Ticket Resale Platform at face value, starting at €89.50, or via Ticketmaster France.
Dion manages her SPS through a five-day-a-week therapy programme, including 90-minute Pilates sessions, vocal therapy, and ballet classes. Her medical team has noted significant progress since she went public with her diagnosis.
