Casualty fans are worried there will be a death in the show's 40th anniversary special episodes, after an extended trailer showed a major explosion at St James' Hospital throwing Holby into chaos.
Explosion chaos in new trailer
The BBC medical drama has released an extended action-packed trailer ahead of its 40th year on air with a double-bill special. It shows St James' Hospital being the site of a major explosion that ends up throwing Holby into absolute chaos.
As civilians have been hurt from the incident, the trailer shows an abundance of people hurt and being rushed in to seek help on stretchers. One close-up shows Dylan Keogh (played by William Beck) distraught in tears, while another shows him outside of the hospital as police make their way towards him.
Another part shows Flynn (Olly Rix) and Stevie (Elinor Lawless) being thrown about in an ambulance as it seems as though they find themselves in danger.
Fans speculate on character fates
It wasn't long before people commented on the trailer, with some sharing their thoughts on Charlie Fairhead's rumoured return and if it could end in tragedy. One person said: “That is definitely Charlie on the stretcher looking away.” Another commented, “Did I see Charlie with the mask on?”
Someone else added: “Stevie falling in the ambulance. Don’t be injured, pleaseeee. Just get Flynn to kiss it better for you!! Someone is dying, my odds are on Charlie or, sadly, Indie.”
Another person fearing for Indie’s future commented: “INDIE’S FACE BLEEDING AT 0:22 and she’s definitely going into the water I can’t cope with this wait anymore.” Someone else simply stated: “I don’t think I’m ready for this.”
Anniversary episodes synopsis
A synopsis for the upcoming two episodes reads: "It is revealed that St James’ Hospital is the site of a major explosion that has thrown Holby into chaos."
As paramedics search through rubble at the now devastated hospital, those back at Holby City Hospital must hold everything together in a large-scale rescue operation that will push some of the show’s most beloved characters to their physical and emotional limits.
