A tiny Cardiff restaurant has been added to the Michelin Guide after less than a year open. Branded as an "Inspector's Favourite", the June additions to the prestigious guide sees Canton's Ogof listed.
Found on King's Road, Ogof opened in late 2025 and serves daily specials and a small sandwich menu made with bread baked in-house. As the day moves into evening, the restaurant shifts into a fuller chalkboard menu of seasonal dishes to share, from snacks to larger plates. It also has a "wall of wine", a "by-the-glass" menu and gives customers the opportunity to take a refillable bottle home with them - sealed to order with the in-house capping machine.
The Michelin Guide writes: "If you enjoy a natural wine or two and honest, no-fuss cooking, then this keenly run neighbourhood bistro is for you. Weekday lunches spotlight freshly made sandwiches, before things ramp up a gear in the evenings and on weekends, with a blackboard of enticing dishes built around high-quality vegetables."
"There’s a hearty, pared-back approach throughout, as with the salt marsh lamb accompanied by chard, nettles and a perfectly braised carrot. The wines on tap offer great value for money and the lesser-known choices are curated with great enthusiasm."
Back in March, Ogof - led by chef Alex Vines - was also named in the Condé Nast Traveller's 27 Top New Restaurants 2026. Ogof, which is found in the spot where legendary La Cuina sat for years, is led by chef Alex Vines, who is opening his first restaurant after more than a decade cooking in acclaimed London kitchens including 40 Maltby Street and Rochelle Canteen, before running his much-loved ‘Vines’ pop-up across Cardiff.
Back in May, nearby neighbourhood bistro Sonder was added to the guide. Sonder has made a name for itself on the thriving dining scene in Cardiff by serving an ever-changing menu of creative and tasty dishes with seasonal produce harnessed from around Wales.
The two newbies join nine other Cardiff restaurants in the Michelin Guide for 2026: Gorse - the city's first Michelin starred venue, Thomas, Ember, Heathcock, Purple Poppadom, Asador 44, Hiraeth, Heaney's and The Sorting Room.
