Cardiff Half Marathon weekend kicked off on Saturday, October 3, with a Toddler Dash for children under three, who gathered at the start line at 10.30am for a 50m race to City Hall.
The young participants wore mini CHM Junior race numbers and collected commemorative stickers at the finish line. The event is part of R4W's Next Gen, a re-imagined series of family events designed to inspire future generations of athletes.
Family fun and fundraising
Throughout the day, the schedule also included Future Challengers events, a Fun Run, NSPCC Story Time and entertainment. The £2 entry donation for the Toddler Dash goes to the NSPCC, a charity that helps rebuild the lives of children who have been abused in the UK.
Children ran with their guardians, with some taking the race seriously, some being carried across the finish line, and others wearing dinosaur costumes. Families looked proud as the young racers completed the course.
Race weekend ahead
Thousands of athletes are expected to take part in the city's annual Half Marathon on Sunday, October 4. The Toddler Dash event launched a weekend of running fever in the Welsh capital.
