British wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, known as Pac, has died suddenly at the age of 40, it has been confirmed. The tragic news was announced just one day after the wrestler from Newcastle took part in All Elite Wrestling's (AEW) 'All Out' pay-per-view event at the Now Arena in Chicago on Saturday night.
Tributes pour in from wrestling world
Tributes have since poured in from across the world of wrestling for Satterley, who also performed in WWE and other events across the globe prior to his partnership with AEW.
A statement from AEW read: "All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac."
"A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability."
"Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley's family, friends and fans."
Career highlights and ring personas
No cause of death has been provided. While he was known by Pac at the time of his death, Satterley performed in WWE under the ring name 'Adrian Neville', which was later shortened to 'Neville'.
He also adopted the persona of 'The Man that Gravity Forgot', in reference to his signature finishing move that saw him jump onto his opponent from the top rope while spinning 360 degrees.
Fellow wrestlers pay their respects
Paying tribute, fellow British wrestler Will Ospreay - who also took part in the event in Chicago on Saturday night - said Satterley was "the greatest export from our country [and] also the greatest human being".
He added: "Honoured to have shared the ring with you so many times. You truly are such a hero to myself and many others."
AEW President Tony Khan said: "Benjamin Satterley defined excellence, as a beloved husband & friend to his many loved ones, and in his wrestling knowledge, skill, unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency and dedication to the sport that he loved and travelled the world to pursue. May Ben rest in peace."
WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman said Satterley's death was a "truly terrible loss", as he wrote: "Oh no. No no no no no no no. What a tremendous talent and even finer human being. My most profound condolences to all who knew him."
AEW wrestler Evil Uno added: "I am in shock. This is heartbreaking. We have lost another great person, a great soul, a true professional. My condolences to his wife and family. RIP Ben."
