Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' and Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' have dominated the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards nominations, announced on Tuesday. 'One Battle After Another' leads with 14 nominations, including Best Film, Director, and Adapted Screenplay. This is the second-highest number of nominations for a single film in BAFTA history, behind Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi' which received 16 in 1983.
'Sinners' follows closely with 13 nominations, including Best Director and Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler. Michael B. Jordan received his first BAFTA nomination in the Best Actor category, while Wunmi Mosaku is nominated for Best Actress.
'Hamnet' and 'Marty Supreme' each earned 11 nominations. Paul Mescal and Timothée Chalamet are both nominated for Best Actor, while Chloé Zhao and Josh Safdie are nominated for Best Director.
'Frankenstein' and 'Sentimental Value' received eight nominations each, while 'Bugonia' and the surprise British box office hit 'I Swear' earned five. Other British titles such as 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' and 'Pillion' received three nominations each.
Eight actors received their first BAFTA nominations in performance categories, including Michael B. Jordan, Robert Aramayo, Odessa A'zion, Rose Byrne, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti. Infiniti is also nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. In the Best Director category, Ryan Coogler and Josh Safdie are first-time nominees.
The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards will take place on 22 February.
