Asda's new Glow Theory skincare line, priced from just £4, delivers a glass-like glow that lasts all day, according to a beauty writer who tested five products from the range.
Rachel Williams, Fashion & Beauty Writer at the Daily Record, sampled the supermarket's recently launched K-beauty inspired collection. The line is designed to offer healthy-looking skin for less, with an eight-step routine totalling £40.
Products tested and initial impressions
Williams tried five of the products: the Glow Theory 60 Pore Clarifying Pads (100g, £4 down from £5), Cloud Foam Cleanser (150ml, £4 down from £5), Melt the Day Away Cleanser Balm (50g, £6), Radiance Repair Serum (30ml, £4 down from £5), and Glass Skin Hydra Cream (50ml, £5).
She praised the packaging, describing it as an "adorable cloud blue hue and a minimalist style" that gives off a clean aesthetic associated with the Korean skincare trend. She also noted the ingredients were "seriously impressive," including premium compounds like PDRN, centella extract, rice extract, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and niacinamide.
How the products performed
Williams used the Cloud Foam Cleanser morning and evening, noting its light texture foams nicely and leaves skin soft without stripping moisture. The Melt the Day Away Cleansing Balm, packed with jojoba oil and collagen, slides onto the skin and removes impurities, SPF, and makeup. Its twist-style design prevents using too much product.
The Pore Clarifying Pads, containing AHA and BHA, were left on for about 20 minutes to refine skin and add a dewy glow. The Radiance Repair Serum promised "visibly brighter, bouncy skin" and was easy to pat in, though it left a slightly sticky residue. The Glass Skin Hydra Cream, with ceramides, collagen, and hyaluronic acid, absorbed easily, locked in moisture, and felt like a dupe for the Drunk Elephant Polypeptide Cream that retails at up to £62 for the same 50ml size.
Overall verdict
After a few weeks of use, Williams found her skin looked healthier and more hydrated. The glass-like glow and plumped effect lasted all day, which she called a winner for her dry skin. She concluded that Asda's collection proves you don't need to spend big money for premium results, with trend-led ingredients and luxe-looking packaging.
