Ant McPartlin leaves Newcastle staff 'starstruck' during weekend visit

Geordie TV star Ant McPartlin delighted staff at several businesses in and around Newcastle at the weekend, as the I'm A Celebrity presenter looked to be thoroughly enjoying a trip back on home soil. Staff at the places he called into were happy to admit they were left 'starstruck' by their famous visitor.

Visits to Goods and The Back Page

While they are no longer based in the Toon, Ant and presenting partner Dec Donnelly like to get back home as often as they can, and Ant certainly made the most of his time in Newcastle, calling into a series of different businesses in town.

A place that has been the scene of many a queue since opening at the end of last month is Goods, the high end grocers, deli and juice bar that houses a number of great vendors all under one roof. It has attracted quite a following for its viral chicken caesar wraps, which have drawn plenty of attention since launch day.

Sharing a photo to Instagram of Ant outside the doors, Goods wrote: 'Absolute pleasure having @antanddec Ant join us at Goods today, grabbing a shake and a Caesar wrap before heading off to Blackpool for @bgt auditions tonight! What a lovely guy and a total legend.'

NUFC merch and pizza stop

Ant was clearly keen to pack in as much shopping as he could before heading to the North West seaside for Britain's Got Talent, as the photo of him at Goods saw him clutching a bag from END. Another shop he called into was football fan mecca The Back Page inside Eldon Square.

Lifelong NUFC supporter Ant picked up some United merch while he was there, and staff member Heather was over the moon to see him, uploading a photo to social media and captioning it: 'Great to see the Geordie legend and canny lad Ant McPartlin at our Eldon Square shop today. Enjoy your purchases and cheers for your support!'

And Ant wasn't done there either as, having obviously heard just how top tier the pizza is at Dough Daze, he also popped into the Ridley Place takeaway. Like the other businesses, they couldn't wait to share news of their celebrity customer with regulars and posted a photo of Ant, writing next to it: 'STARSTRUCK! Not the legend that is Ant of @antanddec popping in to DoughDaze for some slices! an absolute pleasure to have you!'.
