All Creatures fans 'Team Maggie' over Tristan romance

All Creatures Great and Small fans have taken to social media to share the same thought about Tristan Farnon's love life, as they strongly feel he is not destined to be with Charlotte.

Gaia Wise has returned as Tristan's (played by Callum Woodhouse) girlfriend, Charlotte Beauvoir, in the beloved series. While many fans have adored seeing Hollywood star Emma Thompson's daughter grace the screen in the cosy family drama, others have felt that something does not quite sit right.

Fans root for Maggie and Tristan

The latest episodes of season seven have shown Tristan and Charlotte growing more comfortable around one another, but the teaser for episode three suggests things may take a turn as Siegfried Farnon (Sam West) offers Tristan some relationship advice.

On Facebook, one fan said: "I like Tristan's new girlfriend, but I've always hoped he and Maggie would start dating again. They have such good chemistry. Now that she's a widow, I've got my fingers crossed."

In the last episode, Maggie (Mollie Winnard) made an emotional confession to Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) as she admitted she was struggling to provide for her family after her husband Arthur's death. Many fans believe this should be an opening for Tristan to return to Maggie's life, with another adding, "I totally agree, they would make a great couple."

Cast tease what's next for Tristan and Charlotte

A third shared: "I feel the same, especially as Tristan's new girlfriend is the daughter of Emma Thompson and Greg Wise of Sense & Sensibility fame." A fourth lamented: "Team Maggie! They have better chemistry than Charlotte and Tristan."

A final fan shared: "There has to be a reason the writers have kept Maggie in the show for seven series. Kept their relationship current and their banter real. They obviously care for each other. Tristan stepped in to help her in the Drovers during the Christmas tree lighting when her emotions took over. Team Maggie!"

Charlotte actress Wise opened up about joining the show for another season, saying: "Her relationship with Tristan is stronger than ever and they have begun to open up much more with one another. It goes without saying that I love working with Callum."

She did tease Charlotte faced a tough decision, saying: "Charlotte is in a bit of a pickle when we see her at the start of the series. Her emotions are pulling her in several different directions, and it is going to take a lot of courage for her to make a decision."

Tristan actor Woodhouse expanded on the couple's relationship, sharing: "Tristan and Charlotte are still very much going strong. It’s great to see Tristan have a romantic storyline that lasts longer than his previous ones. It’s another example of his maturity that he does now finally want something more stable and constant rather than his previous flitting around. She helps bring out the side of him that was maybe lost or at least damaged after his time away at war and that’s an energy he wants to keep around him as much as possible."

All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5 on Thursdays at 9pm.
