Alison Hammond has spoken out after she was dramatically rushed off air during Friday's episode of This Morning. The presenter was seen clutching her chest as she dashed off screen and has now revealed she was taken to hospital.
Speaking in a gown while laid up in bed, Hammond said there were concerns over her heart and she was waiting on her results.
Message to fans from hospital bed
Posting to Instagram, Hammond said: "Hello, my lovelies, I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine. I'm getting my old ticker checked out. I had a bit of a palpitation and now I'm getting it all checked out.
"I'm hoping it was a little panic attack. I love you all, I'm so sorry I left you, I would never normally leave a TV show. The doctors are checking me out and hopefully everything is fine. Everything is fine, look at me! I've still got my make up on."
On-air incident
The worrying moment happened an hour into the episode, whilst Hammond and her co-host Dermot O'Leary were talking to TV vet Dr Scott Miller. When the camera was doing a close-up on Miller, Hammond could be heard breathing heavily and was then seen on the edge of the frame, raising a hand to her chest. She was promptly helped off screen by O'Leary.
A concerned Miller attempted to keep the segment going, but kept looking off to the side, where Hammond had been taken. In the background, retching could be heard.
The show quickly cut to an ad break and when it returned, O'Leary stood alone on set. He said to viewers: "Welcome back to This Morning, Ali is feeling just a little unwell so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully she'll be back in a sec."
Sadly, he later had to tell viewers that Hammond would not be coming back. "Ali's feeling a little unwell," he repeated. "So I'll be here for the rest of the show."

Hammond first appeared on This Morning in 2003 and became a co-host in 2021, and is known for memorable TV moments and celebrity interviews such as playing Connect 4 with pop star Beyonce. She also co-hosts The Great British Bake Off alongside comedian Noel Fielding.
