Alison Hammond reflects on iconic Beyoncé interview in vulnerable admission
Alison Hammond recalls iconic Beyoncé interview

Alison Hammond has looked back on an early career moment that went viral in 2008, admitting she sees a lot of "vulnerability" in the younger version of herself. The presenter took to Instagram to reflect on the iconic interview with Beyoncé for This Morning.

A career built on laughter

Hammond first rose to fame after appearing on the reality series Big Brother in 2002. Her popularity soared afterwards, and she soon became a regular fixture on This Morning, initially working as a roving entertainment reporter before becoming one of the show's most recognisable faces.

In 2021, she stepped up to become a regular main presenter, joining Dermot O'Leary on Fridays as well as during school holidays and bank holidays.

From Bake Off to For the Love of Dogs

In 2023, Hammond took on one of her biggest roles yet when she joined Noel Fielding as a presenter of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. The following year, she succeeded the late Paul O'Grady as host of ITV's For the Love of Dogs, bringing her trademark warmth to her visits to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

She has also appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing, and is a familiar face as co-host of Great British Bake Off alongside Fielding.

The viral Beyoncé moment

It was back in 2008 when Hammond conducted her iconic interview with Beyoncé for This Morning while the singer was promoting her album, I Am… Sasha Fierce. The interview famously started with the pair clapping and clicking to create a spontaneous beat together, and included a Connect 4 Showdown after Hammond brought out a physical set of the game to challenge Beyoncé after hearing rumours that the singer was "fierce" at it.

Even though it has been 18 years since it aired, the interview remains one of Hammond's most viral moments. Reflecting on how different she was back then, she wrote on Instagram: "When I see my younger self I see vulnerability and innocence and a need to just make other people happy".

Hammond also had another viral interview moment where she made Harrison Ford laugh during a Blade Runner press junket with Ryan Gosling in attendance also.
