Alison Hammond has shared a new update from hospital after leaving This Morning on Friday. The TV star posted a video on Instagram of herself being pranked in bed by Michael McIntyre and Rustie Lee, writing: "Just cheering myself up."

Hospital dash after This Morning exit

Alison was seen abruptly leaving the This Morning set on Friday and did not return. Co-anchor Dermot O'Leary told viewers: "She's had to duck out, and she will hopefully be back." After the second break, Dermot confirmed he would present the remainder of the show alone.

Alison later took to Instagram from her hospital bed to reassure fans, saying: "Hello, my lovelies, I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine. I'm getting my old ticker checked out. I had a bit of a palpitation and now I'm getting it all checked out."

Fans react with concern

She added: "I'm hoping it was a little panic attack. I love you all, I'm so sorry I left you, I would never normally leave a TV show. The doctors are checking me out and hopefully everything is fine. Everything is fine. I’m rocking it. Look how good I look – still got my make-up on from this morning. Lush."

Fans expressed their worry on social media, with one saying: "Very weird I hope she's ok she sounded awful." Another wrote: "What on earth has happened with Alison? Hope she's okay."

Alison's career and weight loss response

Alison has been a familiar face on TV since appearing on Big Brother 24 years ago. She has previously responded to critics who claim she is "over-exposed", telling The Guardian: "If I need to rest up or a job doesn’t appeal, I won't do it. I'm good at saying no. I turn down 10 things per day, no exaggeration."

She has also addressed comments about her weight loss of 11 stone, saying: "People are constantly talking about it, which I find really boring. I'm a big, beautiful, curvy girl. I've always been that way and I looked amazing when I was bigger as well." In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, she added: "The only reason I decided to reduce my weight was because I was pre-diabetic and my mum was concerned. People's bodies shouldn’t be up for discussion."
