Alison Hammond was taken to hospital for medical treatment after she clutched her chest and rushed off the This Morning set during the broadcast on 2 October. She later reassured fans from her hospital bed that she was getting her heart checked out.
During the show, Hammond clutched her chest and ran off set, prompting a cut to a commercial break. When the programme returned, co-host Dermot O'Leary told viewers: "Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully she'll be back," before later adding: "Ali's feeling a little unwell so I'll be here for the rest of the show."
Hammond's update from hospital
Hammond posted an Instagram Story from her hospital bed with the message: "Hello my lovelies, I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine first of all, but I'm getting my old ticker checked out."
She added: "I had a little bit of a palpitation, and now I'm getting it all checked out. But I think I'm okay, I'm hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that."
Fans reassured after health scare
Hammond continued: "I love you all, thank you for all your lovely messages. I'm so, so sorry I left you. I would never normally do that. I would never leave a TV show, so you know I wasn't very well. Hopefully, I'm going to be alright. The doctors are so lovely and they're checking me out, and hopefully everything's going to be fine."
She then blew a kiss to the camera and said: "I love you. Everything is fine, look! I'm rocking it! Look how good I look, I've still got my make-up on from This Morning. Lush! Love you, babs."
