Alison Hammond has said she is 'cheering herself up' after being taken to hospital following a worrying dash off the This Morning set live on air. The 51-year-old presenter left viewers concerned when she was seen clutching her chest and running off screen during Friday's (October 2) live show.
Dermot O'Leary addresses Alison's absence
After the show returned from a break, Dermot O'Leary addressed Alison's absence, saying: "Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully she'll be back." He later told viewers she would not be returning, adding: "Ali's feeling a little unwell so I'll be here for the rest of the show."
On Friday night, Alison shared an update from her hospital bed on Instagram, telling followers: "Hello my lovelies, I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine first of all, but I'm getting my old ticker checked out."
'Just cheering myself up'
On Saturday morning, October 3, Alison shared another post to her Instagram Story. However, she did not offer a health or hospital update, instead admitting she was 'cheering herself up'. Reposting a reel titled "Alison Hammond's funny moments", she added: "Just cheering myself up!"
Fans were quick to comment on the story, with one writing: "Love ya, hope u are well x."
Palpitation explained
In her Friday night video, Alison explained what had happened earlier in the day, saying: "I had a little bit of a palpitation, and now I'm getting it all checked out. But I think I'm okay, I'm hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that."
She added: "I love you all, thank you for all your lovely messages. I'm so, so sorry I left you. I would never normally do that. I would never leave a TV show, so you know I wasn't very well. Hopefully, I'm going to be alright. The doctors are so lovely and they're checking me out, and hopefully everything's going to be fine."
Alison then blew a kiss to the camera, saying: "I love you." She concluded: "Everything is fine, look! I'm rocking it! Look how good I look, I've still got my make-up on from This Morning. Lush! Love you, babs."
