Alex Jones Reveals The One Show Schedule Change for World Cup

Alex Jones hosted Friday's episode of The One Show alongside Roman Kemp, but delivered a significant schedule announcement at the programme's conclusion. The FIFA World Cup 2026, currently underway, has disrupted the broadcasting schedules of numerous popular shows on both ITV and BBC.

Monday's Episode Cancelled

During the closing moments of Friday's show, Alex, 49, informed viewers that The One Show would not air on Monday due to football coverage. She stated: "A big thanks of course to all of our guests for joining us tonight. We have got the night off on Monday to make way for the World Cup. So we'll be back on Tuesday, keeping cool in the studio with actors Hannah Waddingham, Octavia Spencer, J.K. Simmons and Tom Brittney."

Guests on Friday's Show

Friday's episode featured actor David Morrissey, wildlife presenter Steve Backshall, and singer Sienna Spiro, who performed live. David Morrissey discussed his recent Channel 4 series Tip Toe, a five-part suburban thriller co-starring Alan Cumming, created by Russell T Davies. David plays electrician Clive, while Alan portrays gay bar owner Leo. The series explores escalating hostility between neighbours in a Manchester suburb.

Reflecting on the audience reaction, David said: "It's always that thing of putting, it's quite a tough drama. You put so much hard work into it, and yeah, walking down the street, people have been really sort of vocal about how much they've felt moved by the show... it's really landed very well."

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
