The Prince and Princess of Wales are attending a landmark event at Everton's home stadium, Hill Dickinson Stadium, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. The royal couple are calling on the sporting sector to unite behind a shared goal to prevent suicide.
Key figures in sport join the royal couple
Prince William is joined by leading figures in sport, including Dame Kelly Holmes MBE, Gabby Logan OBE, Jill Scott MBE, and Sir Jason and Dame Laura Kenny. The ECHO is in attendance and will provide live updates from the royal couple's visit to Merseyside.
Launch of a new suicide prevention toolkit
At the event, the Prince is set to launch On Your Side: A Suicide Prevention Toolkit for People in Sport. This is described as a first-of-its-kind toolkit designed to strengthen suicide prevention across sporting environments.
The toolkit has been developed in partnership with the UK's national standards body, the British Standards Institution, and mental health charity Chasing the Stigma. It aims to turn good intentions into everyday action by equipping people across sport with the confidence to recognise warning signs, start supportive conversations, and connect individuals with help before they reach crisis point.
The event will be hosted by Gabby Logan, and His Royal Highness will discuss the power of sport in supporting wellbeing and resilience.
