Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, accompanied by Moana co-star Catherine Laga'aia, made a surprise visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London on Monday, June 29, to open a new inclusive play space inspired by Disney films Lilo & Stitch and Moana.
The Secret Visit and Unveiling
The WWE legend and Hollywood actor stunned children, families, and staff as he arrived to officially cut the ribbon on the multi-sensory environment. The play space, designed with accessibility in mind, allows children with varying physical and sensory needs to relax and play. It was developed in collaboration with former patients and parents treated at the hospital.
Features of the Play Space
The new area includes water-play stations inspired by Moana, as well as zones tailored for children with visual impairments. The design ensures that all children, regardless of their mobility, can engage in fun activities.
Personal Connection: Bella's Story
During the opening, Johnson and Laga'aia met 10-year-old Bella, who developed a deep connection to Moana while undergoing treatment for a tumour at age 4. Her mother, Sophie, said the film helped Bella relearn how to speak.
