Newcastle Chef Scott John-Hodgson Promoted to Executive Chef at Two Michelin Star Restaurants
Scott John-Hodgson Becomes Executive Chef at Two Newcastle Michelin Stars

Scott John-Hodgson has been promoted to executive chef at Newcastle's Michelin-starred restaurants House of Tides and Solstice. Chef-owner Kenny Atkinson called the promotion 'thoroughly deserved,' coming just days after John-Hodgson won the Restaurant Chef title at the 2026 Craft Guild of Chefs.

Career Progression

John-Hodgson joined Kenny Atkinson in 2018, the year House of Tides earned its Michelin star within 18 months of opening. He rose to sous chef before moving to Solstice when it opened in 2022. Solstice earned its star in just eight months. He has also twice represented the North East on BBC's Great British Menu.

New Role and Future Plans

'House of Tides is where it all started for me; it's where I found my love for this industry and Solstice has been a project I've given everything to since day one,' John-Hodgson said. 'To now have the opportunity to lead across both restaurants is a real privilege.' He added: 'Taking on this executive chef role is something I'm incredibly proud of and genuinely excited about.'

Kenny Atkinson noted: 'Scott has been an integral part of what we've built here since the very beginning and this promotion is thoroughly deserved. His Craft Guild of Chefs award is a testament to the remarkable level he's operating at.' The promotion allows Atkinson to focus on business developments and brand collaborations while remaining hands-on in both kitchens.
