Family Discovery
On an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, Ruth and her family uncovered a significant secret: her grandmother Beatrice was adopted, a fact unknown to her father Geoff. Ruth expressed shock, saying, "No one knew. My dad had no idea. So that was a huge shock." Her father added, "You could have knocked me down with a feather."
Wedding and Personal Life
Ruth married Joe Lawrence in 2024 after 12 years together. Their wedding reception was held at 53two, an accessible theatre in Manchester, which Ruth described as "epic." Joe, who owns a crane training company, has known Ruth since they were five. The couple share a cat and a Bulldog.
Acting Career
Ruth, who has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair, landed her first role during work experience at the BBC. She said, "Acting was a complete accident. I was doing some work experience at the BBC and a producer I met was casting something for a children's drama." She added, "I absolutely love my job."
