Royal Family's GCSE Grades Ranked: Top Performer Revealed

Teenagers across the UK are nervously awaiting their GCSE results today, hoping their hard work has paid off. Members of the Royal Family experienced the same revision, exam nerves, and nail-biting wait for results, despite attending some of the world's best schools, from Eton College to Gordonstoun School.

Here, the Daily Express takes a look at how the royals performed in their school exams.

King Charles: Lowest Ranked

King Charles famously attended the extremely strict Gordonstoun boarding school in northern Scotland, where his father, Prince Philip, had attended before him. The school combines learning with gruelling physical education. When he took his exams, the future King graduated with five O-levels (now called GCSEs) and two A-levels, a B in History and a C in French. He then attended Cambridge University, graduating with a 2:2 in History.

Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall

Princess Anne's eldest child, Peter Phillips, was an academic who inherited his mother and father's love of sports. While his GCSE grades were never announced, he was the second-ever royal to go to university, enrolling on a sports science course at Exeter University. The now managing director for a boutique sports management company was a member of the Exeter University Rugby Football Club and graduated in 2000.

Like male members of the Royal Family before her, Zara Tindall joined her elder brother, Peter, and studied at Gordonstoun School in Scotland. She achieved an impressive 11 GCSEs with grades A to C, before gaining a B and a C in her A-Levels. After qualifying as a physiotherapist, she became an accomplished equestrian and represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympic Games, where she won a silver medal.

Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice

The Duke of Sussex has spoken candidly about the struggles he faced when he was a student at Eton College, even stating that he found exams a “nightmare” back in 2013. He instead preferred playing sports, particularly rugby. Nevertheless, Harry achieved 11 GCSEs. He then went on to earn a B in Art A-Level and a D in Geography before heading to Sandhurst in 2004 and embarking on a successful military career.

Princess Beatrice also shone when she received her GCSE results during her time at St George's School in Ascot. The Princess, who has spoken candidly about her dyslexia diagnosis, earned two A* grades among the nine GCSEs she achieved. She then went on to gain an A in Drama and Bs in History and Film Studies. The business consultant then studied History and History of Ideas at Goldsmiths, where she earned a 2:1.
