Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is celebrating its 180th anniversary and has launched a public appeal for photographs. The dock officially opened on July 30, 1846, by Prince Albert. A programme of events includes large-scale photography, dockside dining, and community storytelling.
Summer celebrations begin
The celebrations start this evening (July 30) with a Dock Short Lates projection on the Maritime Museum facade from 9.45pm to 11pm, featuring work by Liverpool photographer Mark McNulty. Gusto Albert Dock will host a one-night-only dining experience with a heritage menu inspired by 19th-century trade routes, limited to 180 spaces.
Public photo submissions
Royal Albert Dock has partnered with the ECHO to collect personal memories and photographs. Submissions will be curated into a digital photobook and featured in a Dock Shorts projection. The best entries will also win a VIP Prize Package including an overnight hotel stay, dinner at Maray, and access to the September finale. Entry closes August 27.
