TV presenter Roman Kemp and award-winning actor Paul Whitehouse are among the famous faces who have joined the voice cast for Shaun The Sheep: The Beast Of Mossy Bottom.
The third feature film in the beloved children’s franchise will also feature a new remix of the Shaun The Sheep theme song Life’s A Treat by hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks.
Halloween-themed plot and new characters
The upcoming instalment is set around Halloween as plucky sheep Shaun becomes a “mad scientist” when he tries to fix the ruined pumpkin patch on Mossy Bottom Farm with a series of experiments.
The One Show host Kemp will feature in the film as a pizza boy while Welsh actor and comedian Whitehouse will portray the local shopkeeper.
Baby Reindeer star Nina Sosanya is also among the new additions to the cast and will play the trusted vet of Mossingham – the fictional rural town in which the hit franchise is set.
Returning cast and Rizzle Kicks remix
The stars join previously announced cast members such as former Love Island winner Dani Dyer, who will make her voice acting debut as the town’s social media influencer.
The new Aardman Animations film will also see TV presenter Justin Fletcher return to voice cheeky sheep Shaun and his cousin, Timmy the lamb.
Rizzle Kicks, who previously reworked the popular theme song for the first Shaun The Sheep movie in 2015, have produced a fresh remix which will play during the end credits of the upcoming film.
The duo, made up of Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, is best known for hits such as Mama Do The Hump, Down With the Trumpets and Skip to the Good Bit.
Stephens said: “I’ve proudly said working with Aardman on the Shaun the Sheep soundtrack is one of my best moments. Shaun is just iconic and the song is a real banger.”
His bandmate Alexander-Sule added: “We grew up watching Wallace & Gromit, so when we were asked to remix Life’s A Treat, it was a very easy decision to make.
“We had loads of fun in the studio putting a fresh spin on it and I can’t wait to watch the new film with my kids.”
Franchise history and release date
Shaun The Sheep was created by Aardman Animations and animator and director Nick Park, who is also known for stop-motion animated franchise Wallace And Gromit.
The sheep first appeared on-screen in the 1995 Wallace And Gromit short film A Close Shave and the characters’ spin-off Shaun The Sheep premiered in 2007.
The franchise has since produced multiple feature films which received nominations at the Bafta Film Awards and Academy Awards, and has also led to spin-off series based around characters such as Timmy the lamb.
The upcoming Shaun The Sheep film is part of Aardman Animations’ 50th anniversary celebrations highlighting the craft and legacy of the studio.
Shaun The Sheep: The Beast Of Mossy Bottom is scheduled for release in cinemas across the UK on September 18.
