Robson Green has confirmed that he has finished filming season one of The Northumbria Mysteries for the BBC, following the conclusion of Grantchester, which aired its final episode on PBS on 2 August.

Taking to Instagram, Green announced the wrap, calling it "one of the most joyous filming experiences of my career." He praised the story and the team, adding: "Transmission TBC. A series for all the family set against the magical and jaw-dropping backdrop of Northumberland. Watch this space."

Plot and character

In a classic odd-couple pairing, Joe and Rose combine their talents as they "frustrate, confound, and ultimately surprise one another while unravelling a series of compelling crime mysteries."

The three-month shoot began in April. Ahead of his debut as Joe Ruby, Green expressed his pride in the project, writing: "It's a show for everyone who's ever made mistakes, but who hasn't given up just yet! And just when you, as the audience, think you've solved the crime, you haven't. High-end drama created and produced in the North East of England."
