Oasis frontmen Noel and Liam Gallagher have arrived at the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of their reunion documentary, Don’t Look Back in Anger, as rumours of a second blockbuster stadium tour grow.
The film is part concert movie and part exploration of the contentious relationship between the brothers, whose long-held feud led to Oasis disbanding in 2009. The documentary includes never-before-seen rehearsals and what was then their first joint interview in 25 years.
Directors on the reconciliation
Co-directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace said: “We set out to make a film about the reconciliation of two brothers, infamous for their volatile relationship.
“But we also wanted to make a film about the power of music and the way Oasis’ songs have continued to have a life of their own, as the band lay dormant for 15 years. The documentary, like the reunion and the tour, took on a life of its own.”
Celtic Park clues decoded
Fans of the Britpop duo have this week been teased with a cryptic social media video which some believe could have the pair taking to the stage at Celtic Park in Glasgow for a series of gigs next summer. Fans decoded a number of cryptic clues in the 23-second video posted online on Thursday.
The footage shows two boys in a chip shop while the band’s 2002 single Little By Little plays in the background. Numbers in various parts of the scene appear to add up to the longitude and latitude of Celtic’s home ground.
A second cryptic post also suggested they could stage a similar run at the Etihad Stadium – home of their beloved Manchester City. Rumours of a follow-up to the band’s 2025 reunion tour have been rife in recent weeks, but no dates or venues have been formally announced.
Tour rumours and release details
The Mirror reports a leaked potential 2027 world tour schedule would kick-off with five nights at Celtic Park before a 12-night run at the Etihad. Liam and Noel would also play dates in Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and possibly Spain with a potential return to Knebworth long mooted.
In the meantime, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will be in cinemas shortly after the Venice Film Festival. Disney is giving the film an IMAX release on September 11 before it is expected to arrive on the Disney+ streaming service later this year.
Robert Pattinson’s new film, Primetime, is also set to debut at the festival. Written by Ajon Singh and directed by Lance Oppenheim, the film has already inspired discourse and headlines thanks to its trailer and subject matter. The Batman star plays Dateline NBC host Chris Hansen at the height of its success, and reality series To Catch A Predator. It is based on journalist Luke Dittrich’s Esquire article “Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die”, which explores a 2006 sting operation on Texas assistant district attorney Bill Conradt.
