Netflix has confirmed a reboot of the 2004 romantic comedy '13 Going on 30', often called a 'perfect' film by fans. The new version will star Emily Bader ('People We Meet on Vacation') and Logan Lerman ('Only Murders in the Building'), with original star Jennifer Garner serving as an executive producer.
Cast and Crew
Joining Bader and Lerman are Jessica Alba ('Fantastic Four'), Taylor Ortega ('Big Mistakes'), and Tim Meadows ('Mean Girls'). The film is directed by Brett Haley, who previously worked with Bader on 'People We Meet on Vacation'. Haley expressed his excitement, calling the original film 'one of those rare, perfect films' and noting the responsibility of the reimagining.
Garner's Involvement
Jennifer Garner's role as executive producer is especially meaningful, according to Haley, who said: 'Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful.' Garner played the lead role of Jenna Rink in the original film.
Filming and Release
Filming has begun, but no official Netflix release date has been announced. The original story follows 13-year-old Jenna Rink who wishes to be 'thirty, flirty and thriving' and wakes up as a 30-year-old fashion magazine editor.
