A mum surprised her Christmas-mad daughter with a festive-themed birthday party in the height of summer. Chelsea White, a self-professed 'proper Christmas girly', said her eight-year-old Neveah White has followed in her festive footsteps and is mad about all things December 25.
Festive surprise in July
The mum of four claims her daughter is 'constantly' discussing Christmas in the months leading up to the big day and recently sported a Mrs Claus outfit while pretending to deliver gifts. The 32-year-old, who always plans a themed celebration for her children's birthdays, decided to embrace a 'tacky' Christmas theme, snapping up a tree and decorations from Temu for £25.
The customer assistant says Neveah was 'gobsmacked' when she came downstairs on her eighth birthday on July 29, as Brits sweltered across the UK, with festive tunes blasting out. Chelsea's TikTok video shows the living room decked out with tinsel, a decorated Christmas tree, an inflatable Santa, presents wrapped in festive paper and a Christmas bow balloon. The clip racked up more than 8,000 likes, shares and comments with Chelsea's pals branding the pair as 'crazy'.
Family reactions
Neveah, from Birmingham, West Midlands, said: "I wasn't really expecting it because it's summer, so I was a bit shocked that it was Christmas themed. It was just amazing, when I saw the red confetti on the door I was like 'what could this be?'."
"Then I opened the door and I saw it was literally just full of Christmas. My little brother thought it was Christmas day so he wanted to open presents and then my older brother was like 'it's not Christmas it's July'."
Chelsea said: "I love Christmas, I've always been a proper Christmas girly. Neveah is exactly the same all year round. It was only last week she was in the garden wearing a full Mrs Claus outfit, she makes me wrap boxes so she can pretend she's delivering the presents."
Details of the party
"I always do a birthday theme, last year she loved Lilo and Stitch so I did palm tree balloons. This year I thought 'what do I do?', in the last few months she's constantly talked about Christmas. I wanted to do a tacky Christmas because I feel like she loves the proper traditional one. I got her a Christmas banner then I wrapped most of her presents in Christmas wrapping paper as well and then I had the Christmas music on the telly when she came down. The order, everything included, came to about £25."
"I ordered all new baubles, lights, everything for her tree so that she could have that specifically as her own tree for her bedroom so she's got it next to her bed now. She walked downstairs and she obviously saw the tinsel door first and then when she walked in she was literally just gobsmacked, she had her hand over her mouth. She just couldn't believe it."
While Neveah 'absolutely loved' the surprise, Chelsea claims her eldest son, Tyler White, 10, was embarrassed and the celebration confused her four-year-old son Jordan White. Chelsea said: "She just absolutely loved it. My four-year-old thought it was Christmas and we had to explain. He was like 'it's Christmas' and I was like 'no Jordan it's not'. She [Neveah] said it was the best theme I could've done for her, which I thought was so cute."
"Then my eldest, he was just like 'this is so embarrassing'. He's so 'no, until it's December you can't play Christmas songs, you can't put decorations up'. When I uploaded the video my friends commented on it saying 'omg she is so your daughter, you guys are crazy'."
People flooded the post with comments praising the wacky theme. One wrote: "We did this for my friend's son. He wanted his birthday like his brother who is born Xmas day but his birthday is Easter lol." Another commented: "I had a Christmas-themed 30th birthday. Also in July, in 30 degree heat." A third wrote: "I support this. What a fab birthday."
