Former England striker Michael Owen and his family are the subject of a new six-part Prime Video documentary series, Meet the Owens. The show follows Michael, his wife Louise, and their four children: Gemma, 23, Emily, 18, James, 20, and Jessica, 16.
The Owen family story
In the early episodes, Michael and Louise share their love story, revealing they attended the same primary school and grew up together, though they did not start dating until they were around 17. The couple have been together for over 28 years.
Gemma is described as the "female version" of her father in the series. She rose to fame after appearing on Love Island in 2022 at age 19, finishing in second place with Luca Bish. The couple split three months after the show. She now competes as an international dressage rider and finished fourth in the 2026 Markel Magnolia Cup.
Emily, James, and Jessica
Emily, 18, is described as "the academic" of the family. She is preparing for university, making her the first of the siblings to attend higher education. She previously competed in 100-metre and 60-metre sprinting but had to stop after suffering a hip injury at 16. She now wants to study sports psychology.
James, 20, the only son, hoped to follow his father into football but is clinically blind due to Stargardt disease, a hereditary eye disorder. He is expected to join the family's racehorse business. Jessica, 16, the youngest, plans to become a showjumper and does not intend to go to sixth form.
