Michael Owen's six-part documentary series, Meet the Owens, is now available to stream for free on Amazon Prime Video. Viewers with an active Amazon Prime subscription or a 30-day free trial can watch all episodes at no additional cost.
Inside the series
Across six episodes, Meet the Owens follows the former Liverpool and England striker as he juggles a hectic family life and his horse racing empire. The series charts a year in the life of Owen, the 2001 Ballon d'Or winner who enjoyed a stellar career at Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United. He is joined by his wife Louise and their four children – Gemma, James, Emily, and Jessica – as they manage the pressures of running a horse racing business while dealing with family life.
Since retiring at the end of the 2012/13 season, Owen has established a horseracing operation which he says consists of around 140 horses. However, maintaining the stables remains a significant challenge, as the series reveals they could lose one million pounds this year.
Cast and crew
"I was always exceptionally talented at football," Owen says in the series trailer. "Football was my life, but now it's horse racing."
Alongside Owen's family, the series includes cameos from his former teammates Jamie Carragher and Wayne Rooney. Meet the Owens is directed by Emmy-nominated Chris Wallwork, director of Born Racers and producer of Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues.

All six episodes are now streaming on Amazon's Prime Video. New viewers can sign up for a 30-day free trial to watch the entire series free of charge, though the subscription will automatically renew at £8.99 per month once the trial ends unless cancelled beforehand.

Most televised matches will air on Sky Sports, with Liverpool's home tie shown on TNT Sports.
