Maria Exposes Gary and Sarah's 'Affair' with Colossal Coronation Street Consequences
Maria Exposes Gary and Sarah's 'Affair' on Coronation Street

Is there anywhere better to accuse your husband of cheating than a dinner party on Coronation Street? Not according to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). The only thing on the menu is the truth, and Maria is serving up huge helpings when Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) invite three suspects in Theo Silverton's murder round for dinner.

Maria's Suspicion

Maria has good reason to be suspicious. Her husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) has been looking awfully pally-pally with his old flame Sarah. He has also been very quick to defend her when Maria criticised her even slightly. It seems Gary doth protest too much.

The Night of the Murder

Let us go back to the night Theo was murdered. Gary already looks suspicious. He is the only suspect with a track record of bumping off people he dislikes. As soon as he discovered that his close friend Theo was an abusive bully, all bets were off, especially after he smashed up the villain's van with a sledgehammer. Intriguingly, Maria stood by her man and gave DS Green a false alibi, even though Gary was caught on the street in the back of a selfie during Swarla's wedding.

Kit remains convinced that Gary is hiding something. For an added twist, Kit is in a relationship with Sarah, Gary's ex. The two former flames have been looking cosy lately, possibly due to Sarah needing support after being brutally attacked by Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown). Gary has a track record of cheating, and Sarah is not exactly innocent in that department. A passionate affair between the ex-lovers would explain Gary's lack of an alibi for that evening.

The Dinner Party

Maria's suspicions are about to spill out during a dinner party to remember. The episode begins in Kit and Sarah's flat with the wreckage of a dinner party gone bad: broken glass, an upended chair, and a blood-splattered tablecloth. Earlier, Kit reminds Sarah about their date night and suggests they go food shopping at lunchtime. But when Kit receives a text from Sarah cancelling their lunchtime trip, Brody (Ryan Mulvey) teases him that Sarah has had a better offer. Maria overhears and her mind whirs.

As Sarah leaves the builders yard, Kit watches her with suspicion. In the Rovers, Sarah invites Todd and Summer to join her and Kit for dinner. Kit's heart sinks. However, when he spots her whispering to Gary, Kit suggests Gary and Maria might like to join them. Gary and Sarah freeze, but Maria accepts the invitation.

Tensions Rise

As Todd, Summer, Gary, and Maria arrive for the dinner party, tensions are high as old animosities bubble under. Maria aims bitchy comments at Sarah, while Kit does his best to get Gary alone, making pointed remarks about people's propensity to lie. With the dinner party in full flow, Kit serves the main course, but as Maria raises a toast to the hosts, the sassy hairdresser drops a bombshell: she accuses Gary and Sarah of having an affair for weeks. As everyone reels in shock, secrets and confessions are on the menu.

What Happens Next?

How will Gary and Sarah answer Maria's allegation? The consequences are colossal for all involved on Coronation Street.
