Two Liverpool city centre pubs, The Liverpool and Baby Temp'l, have posted notices on their doors announcing "some changes" are coming. The venues, which are connected as one on James Street, will close their kitchens for approximately two to three weeks while improvements are carried out.
Kitchen upgrades to support growing demand
The notice explains that the kitchens are being renovated to include a new installation and extension, aimed at supporting increased demand since Baby Temp'l opened in the basement earlier this year. The work will also allow the pub to bring back Sunday roast dinners and improve its food offerings with better facilities.
A spokesperson confirmed that both pubs will remain open as usual, with only the kitchens affected. Guests are directed to sister venue The Slaughterhouse on Fenwick Street for food during the renovations.
Baby Temp'l opened in March after £300,000 investment
Baby Temp'l transformed the previously unused basement space of The Liverpool at the start of the year. An investment of roughly £300,000 turned the area into what was described as an authentic Irish destination. The original basement entrance on James Street was reinstated, and the venue opened on Friday, March 13, ahead of St Patrick's Day celebrations.
The 150-capacity venue is overseen by publican brothers Tom and Daniel Dalton, who also manage The Slaughterhouse. It features private snugs, booth seating, a dance floor, sports screens, and a social media photo wall. One unique design element is a window installation that simulates a view across the River Mersey, with interactive displays of passing ships, including a special appearance from the RMS Titanic, nodding to Liverpool's maritime history and the venue's proximity to the docks.
Notice thanks customers for patience
The notice posted on the doors reads: "We're making some changes for the better! Our kitchen will be closed for approximately two to three weeks while we carry out some exciting improvements." It concludes: "Thank you for understanding and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and support. We can't wait to welcome you back with an even better kitchen!"
