Kelsey Parker appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain with her newborn daughter, River, and opened up about the new arrival. The 35-year-old shared the news of her daughter's birth on Instagram on September 20, and fans quickly flooded her with support.
Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls during the latest episode of the ITV show on September 28, Kelsey discussed her experiences of pregnancy and giving birth this time around, following the devastating loss of her baby son.
A traumatic loss
Last year, Kelsey gave birth unexpectedly at home, when her son Phoenix was sadly born sleeping. At the time, she opened up on how the paramedics called the police when they arrived at her home, where she was only allowed to hold her son for nine minutes before he was taken away.
Although the police have since apologised over her treatment, Kelsey told Susanna and Ed that it's 'never going to take back that time' on what they went through.
'Really bad PTSD'
When Susanna observed that Kelsey had 'been through the mill', referencing not only the death of her son Phoenix, but also her husband Tom Parker, who died in 2022, Kelsey shared it's been 'a real tough' few years as she recalled the 'horrific' loss of Phoenix before calling River their 'little hope'.
As Susanna noted that Kelsey lost her son in 'terrible' circumstances following a traumatic birth, the ITV presenter enquired how that affected her in the lead-up to River's arrival. Admitting she has 'really bad PTSD' from the experience, she called it 'really tough', before remarking she knew it would be ok with River, as they knew they couldn't go through that again.
Support and family joy
She then took a moment to praise the love and support she's been given by people online who have congratulated her on the arrival of River. She told Susanna how her two other children are 'over the moon' with their new baby sister, whose father is her partner Will Lindsay, as she added they have been through 'so much'.
