BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay has made a candid admission in a behind-the-scenes clip. The presenter, who brings BBC viewers the latest headlines alongside Sally Nugent during the week, has previously spoken about his eyesight. He has since mentioned it after making a confession about his wardrobe, revealing that he has nearly 100 ties stashed away in his locker at work.

In a clip posted to Instagram on Sunday (September 6), Jon began by asking: “What does a TV newsreader keep in his locker?” before unveiling dozens of ties spilling out. As he pulled them out, he confessed that there were 85 ties, before unloading them onto the floor.
“Where to start?” Jon asked, as he began organising them by colour. “Not easy when you’re colour-blind,” he added, reports the Daily Star.

He then revealed that the ties had been given a new home and some hanging space, adding: “Let’s see how long this lasts...” Jon previously revealed that he asks his co-host Sally for help with his outfits on BBC Breakfast, as he is colour blind. He previously told The Mirror: "In the morning I'll be like, 'Sal, does this tie go?' And she goes, 'Ah, no.' She guides me. She's like my carer."
Speculation over Naga's replacement
Jon’s glimpse into life behind-the-scenes of BBC Breakfast comes as speculation is mounting over who will be replacing Naga Munchetty. Naga, who presents BBC Breakfast alongside Charlie Stayt, announced earlier this year that she was stepping down after more than a decade.
Jon had shared live on BBC Breakfast: "Our friend and colleague Naga Munchetty has announced that she will be leaving BBC Breakfast to co-present the BBC 5 Live Breakfast Show from January next year." Sally added: "Naga has just shared the news with the current presenters Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards."
In a statement, Naga said: "I'm thrilled to be joining 5 Live Breakfast in January. Live news, great conversations and connecting with audiences are what I love most about broadcasting, and 5 Live does all of that brilliantly."
"It has been a privilege to be part of the BBC Breakfast TV team for the past 17 years, working alongside an incredibly talented and hard-working group of journalists who are not only outstanding colleagues but also great friends. Presenting a flagship programme on 5 Live is an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up. It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role."

The likes of Sarah Campbell and Helen Skelton are reportedly said to be in the running as Naga’s replacement, though the BBC has yet to announce the official name. BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
