Ian Beale has unknowingly become part of Gray Atkins' scheme to kidnap his son Jordan in the latest EastEnders episode. After a violent incident in prison, Ian agreed to help Gray in exchange for protection, not realizing the true extent of the plan.
Prison Deal Sealed
Ian (Adam Woodyatt) is serving time for drink driving in the same prison as serial killer Gray (Toby Alexander-Smith). Gray has been pressuring Ian to help ruin Chelsea Fox's (Zaraah Abrahams) life, blaming her for keeping Jordan away and failing to testify for Ian. Initially, Ian refused, but a brutal attack on another inmate changed his mind.
When Ian tried to press a distress button during the attack, he was threatened. Fearing for his safety, he agreed to Gray's deal: convince Chelsea to visit him in prison. Using an illicit phone, Ian called Chelsea, who eventually agreed to come, with Gray watching approvingly.

Ian's prison time has been tough, and he remains unaware that Chelsea has filed an appeal for his release. He is serving an eight-month sentence, though fans know from flashforward scenes that he will be free by New Year's Day 2026, ready to be Max Branning's (Jake Wood) best man at his fifth wedding.
Flashforward Mystery
In the flashforward, Max is arrested for soliciting murder, though his intended target is still unknown. Theories have pointed to new policeman Craig Ingram (Matthew James-Bailey), Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), or Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Levy). Priya and Max have been having an affair, and some fans speculate that her manipulative behavior could lead Max to wish her harm.
