Holly Willoughby has launched a new YouTube show called Together, featuring cooking tutorials, real life interviews, fashion advice and wellness tips. The former This Morning star says the show was inspired by her husband Dan Baldwin and their three children, even if her daughter cringed at some of her early social media efforts.
Daughter's reaction
Willoughby, 45, appeared on BBC Radio 2 with Sara Cox to promote her first solo venture since leaving This Morning in 2023. She said: "Well my daughter was laughing at me as I was saying, 'and subscribe and ding the bell and you'll get notifications'. She was like, mum you really don't know what you're talking about and I was like, no but I'm learning!"
Inspiration from children
Willoughby said she spent more time with her children after leaving This Morning, and they inspired the YouTube shift. "I had a bit of time off and watching them, and they'd go to Netflix, Disney or Amazon and they'll be watching YouTube. When podcasts moved into being more visual, I'd watch those. It feels like everyone's doing the same thing," she said. "You can create these mini worlds and people can find you and be a part of it."
The show is produced by husband Dan's company Hungry Bear Media. "I had this idea and I thought who better to make it and who do I trust more. Hungry Bear make brilliant shows and I just thought it was a perfect fit, it was a no brainer really," she said.
Past difficulties
Willoughby left This Morning after 14 years following co-star Phillip Schofield's affair scandal, and later was the target in a horrific plot. Speaking about the ordeal, she said: "Obviously everybody knew what happened and it was a difficult time. Everybody in their own way goes through something. I needed a bit of time out, just to come to terms with everything. I needed a little space and time with family and my friends, just to be away from work."
Moving forward
She credits her children and husband for getting her through. "Life moves on, and I'm a mum, and I have my kids, and my husband, and all the important stuff in life," she said. "If there's anything I've learned, it's don't look too far into the future. It's just day by day. Let's just see what happens. I'm now doing this with my husband, and this feels like the right time to be doing this."
Her new show features guest appearances including Stanley Tucci, Nicole Appleton, Katherine Ryan, Emma Bunton, Rob Beckett and Joanne McNally. "I have a glass of wine, sit and cook a really nice meal and just have a laugh. I think laughter really is the best medicine. It's the most important thing. You can diffuse any situation," she said.
