Holly Willoughby has addressed the comparisons between her new YouTube show, Holly Willoughby Together, and Meghan Markle's Netflix series With Love, Meghan, saying she actually enjoyed it.
Holly's Verdict on Meghan's Show
The former This Morning host, 45, gave her frank assessment of Meghan's foray into lifestyle content, which was ridiculed by television icon Martha Stewart earlier this week. In a fresh interview with The Times regarding Meghan's "brief" series, Holly revealed: "I know it got an absolute hammering, but I actually really enjoyed her show."
She admitted she "doesn't mind" the parallels drawn between the pair after numerous publications ran features comparing them directly.
Criticism of Holly's Show
This follows Holly's programme being slated by TalkTV personality Stephanie Takyi, who likened Together to "watching paint dry". She said: "Holly is back but she is not back with a bang. You know, this is a very sink or swim moment for Holly Willoughby's career, and right now, she's sinking."
"She's no longer the nation's TV sweetheart anymore, we've seen through that. We've seen the controversy over the past few years. We want a bit of realism from Holly."
"So she's now come back, gone into this Meghan, Martha Stewart-kind of era, and so far it's not working."
"I think this is very much a last shot saloon for Holly Willoughby's career, but we have to give her the benefit of the doubt. It was the first episode, but if I'm honest, Mark, it was like watching paint dry."
"I fell asleep half way through it."
Further Backlash
Others have claimed that Holly's show "makes Meghan's look good", while she has also faced criticism for endorsing weight loss medication company Voy, and for collaborating with her producer husband Dan Baldwin behind the scenes in what some are calling a display of "nepotism".
