Hidden Society, a hidden gem cocktail bar tucked away on Goodge Street in Fitzrovia, has launched a new drinks menu inspired by legendary Australian artist Bob Ross. The bar, which opened last January, is known for its art-themed cocktails, and the new selection is described as “translating the experience of a painting into something that can be tasted”.
A menu inspired by art and nature
The Happy Accidents menu features five cocktails, each inspired by recurring elements of Bob Ross's landscapes: Sky, Mountain, Forest, Lake and Sunset. Mario Hernandez, general manager and creator of the menu, explained: “Bob Ross showed that creativity doesn’t need to be rigid or perfect. We took the recurring elements of his landscapes and considered how each one might taste. Sky, Mountain, Forest, Lake and Sunset are individual expressions but together they make one complete scene.”
The Sky cocktail, made from Crystal Head vodka, Fenjiu Baijiu, Suze, chrysanthemum and honey cordial and citrus soda, is described as “light, floral and expansive”. The Mountain cocktail, made from Kay Sake, Ojo de Dios Mezcal, Pine Liqueur, Prosecco and Yuzu Sorbet, is described as “bright, crisp and textured” and doubles as a dessert thanks to its generous helping of sorbet.
Five drinks, one complete scene
The Forest cocktail, made from Mijenta Reposado Tequila, Skinos Mastiha Liqueur, Rosemary, Ginger and Dr Hostetter’s Bitter, is described as “deep, aromatic and alive”. The Lake cocktail, made from Crystal Head Vodka, Beesou Honey Aperitif, Edwards Elderflower Liqueur, Chamomile and Orange Bitters, was the personal favourite of the reviewer, who said it “really does feel like swimming in a crystal clear lake - on your tongue”.
The final cocktail, Sunset, is made from Mijenta Blanco Tequila, Cointreau Spicy, Koosh and Citrus, and is described as “warm, vibrant and gently spiced”. The bar itself is an intimate space with booths and a cosy library area filled with books, perfect for autumn and winter nights.
Happy Accidents is available now at Hidden Society, 61 Goodge St, London. All Happy Accidents cocktails cost £9 until 7pm and £12 after 7pm.
