Dame Helen Mirren looked stunning on the red carpet at the MobLand series two premiere in London on Thursday, where she was seen cosying up to co-star Tom Hardy. The event took place at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, with the pair appearing together for the first time since allegations of an on-set rift.
Helen, 81, wore a dazzling sequinned gown by designer Jenny Packham, reportedly worth over £4,000. Tom, 48, opted for a more casual look, wearing a white shirt featuring a blue painting of The Tower of Babel, paired with white trousers. Pierce Brosnan, who also stars in the show, arrived in his signature smart suit and tie.
Rumours of tension played down
The trio posed for pictures together, with Helen publicly defending Tom after claims he had behaved poorly on set and was leaving his role on Guy Ritchie's show. Tom plays Harry Da Souza, a fixer for a notorious mob family, while Pierce and Helen play the heads of the family, known as the Harrigans.
It was reported before the series two release that there was major tension between Tom and members of the production team over the direction of the show. Showing her support, Helen told him 'Love you now and always' and stated she would work with him again in a 'heartbeat'.
Helen's words on working together
Speaking to Radio Times, she said: "'You do learn certain things as you get older. About how to work with people, really.'" She added: "What you learn is every single person is different; every single person has their own way of doing things. There's not one way, there's a million different ways."
She continued: "What you want is what's on the screen, or what's on the stage, to be great. And the only way to do that is for everyone to feel that they can be free to create and explore and experiment and f*** up," adding that she herself has 'endlessly' 'f**ked up'.
Third series confirmed
It is said that producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser are working through their creative differences with the star in time to start shooting series three. It was announced before the launch of series two that there will be a third instalment.
An announcement from the streamer Paramount stated: "The Harrigan family's fight for power is far from over." The statement went on to tease: "The third season will see the return of Tom Hardy as loyal fixer Harry da Souza, alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as crime family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan".
