Gethin Jones has described his love life as "complex" while confirming he is single and open to finding love. The 48-year-old Morning Live presenter made the admission on the Anything Is Possible podcast, where he also addressed ongoing rumours linking him to co-star Helen Skelton.
Past Relationships and Recent Links
Jones's last high-profile relationship was with opera singer Katherine Jenkins, to whom he was engaged. Following their split, he dated former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh, but their busy schedules prevented a romance from developing.
More recently, he has been linked to Helen Skelton, his Morning Live co-star. The pair's on-screen partnership became permanent in January 2024 when the BBC announced a refreshed presenting line-up. Skelton, who separated from her husband Richie Myler in 2022, has repeatedly insisted they are just friends.
Podcast Admission
Speaking on the podcast, Jones said: "I think it's a bigger more complex conversation for another podcast maybe." He added: "But yeah I'm a pretty simple guy, but probably quite complex."
Reflecting on his current state, he said: "There was a lot of chat about relationships and being happy in yourself which sounds like a cliché but it's very true and I am, I'm really content, I'm happy, I've got two arms and two legs."
He also joked about his friends: "I've always been a good wingman and now you're all settled down and happy, when have you taken me out for a beer? I'm single, I've got a lot of time on my hands."
Helen Skelton's Response
When asked about the romance rumours in an interview with The Times, Skelton dismissed the speculation: "We're not. We work together; he's one of my best friends."
Following their roller disco endurance challenge for Comic Relief, she paid tribute to Jones on social media, writing: "My dear @gethincjones... You are some man. I don't publicly say often enough how much love and respect I have for you my friend because I assume it is well known, but for the record you're a legend and I am beyond grateful to have you by my side on the rink, the sofa and beyond."
Jones has also spoken warmly about their friendship, telling The Sun: "We are very supportive of each other, we like to look out for each other. I think that's fair to say on and off camera."
